Organizational History

Villa Comunitaria is a Latine/x and women-led nonprofit (recognized 501(c)(3) organization) based in the South Park neighborhood of Seattle. Since 2005, Villa has been providing services that meet the diverse needs of the South Park community and surrounding South King County. Villa’s programs and services aim to support individuals and families in a holistic and enduring way. Staff are trusted because they share the same language, culture, and background of the people they serve.

Time and time again, Villa has been the organization that people turn to for resources or help in extraordinary times of need. When the COVID pandemic hit, families were able to access emergency funds, vaccination appointments, and receive information in Spanish. And when the recent King Tides flooded much of the neighborhood, Villa was able to jump into action quickly to help people find shelter and the resources they needed to recover.

The South Park neighborhood is experiencing tremendous change as well as recognition for the many ways it has been historically neglected, and we want to make sure we’re advocating for those who are most often overlooked, centering their needs in those discussions. If you are interested in joining us, we would love to have you.

The Villa board meets monthly and will respond to management needs by forming committees such Finance, Human Resources, Programming, and Fundraising. Each board member provides their perspective, shares experiences and feedback to help Villa Comunitaria grow and continue to be sustainable for years to come.  We encourage you to follow Villa Comunitaria on Facebook where they frequently post about workshops and educational opportunities we offer to the community.
